gears
ok i found a 3.73 gearing that's a good price but i've never heard of the compainy...motive performance parts. also wouldi need to also get a bearing kit it says this about it "This Motive Installation kit contains everything you need to rebuild your Ford 8.8" rear end. It is the same as the Motive Bearing Kit without the bearings. The kit is recommended when you install gears in cars with over 60K miles. The kit is cheap insurance for future problems."
Also it says that it's for a 8.8" rear end. is that stock?

RE: gears
8.8' is the stock differential. I was confused by your wording about the kit but yes make sure you have the bearings. 2 on pinion and 2 on the carrier assembly seals and i would replace the wheel bearings and you could rebuild the clutches in the carrier assembly, then basically have a new rearend.

RE: gears
ok i was doing some research and it sadi that i need all this for changing gears...
Use the following parts to help complete your installation:
-Installation Kit: #M4210C
-Red Line Gear Oil: #RL7590 Qty. (2)
-Speedometer Gear for pre-1999 models: see our listings there are several to choose from based on tire size, etc.
-Electronic Speedo Adapter for 1999-up models: #ERA100
are all these really necesarry i know the oil is but can i do everything else without the things they listed. do i need a new bearing kit? i tho't i might but not sure

RE: gears
It depends on what mods you have to make your traction better is how much it will effect your traction, but if your mostly on stock suspension and dont have other mods like aftermarket control arms your gunna have worse traction if your punching it but driving easy, not heavy footed you should have the same traction. I also have the same exact gears from the same company tell me how it works out i havent installed mine yet. Im not sure on if you need the speedo stuff but i hope not cuz i dont want to have to buy more stuff. I would recomend the complete installation kit with the bearings if your car has over 60k miles even if there not bad its always to be safe then sorry cuz i know i wouldnt want to pull off my rear end a second time. Good pick on the gears i personally went with the 3.73s instead because i wanted a first gear and better gas mileage cuz my car is my DD also. GL keep us informed on how it goes

RE: gears
I was just saying its better to get it done right the first time incase those bearings go bad and you have to replace them later when you could have replaced them in the first place and been done with it.
