hey man i just now went though this crap also. mine was the volt regulator. the machine at the parts store wont pick up on it so i had to do all the research myself and find out waht it was. if i were you i was just go down there and pick on up they are only about 15 bucks and easy to install.

ya, but this is my 2nd alt and it has a new regulator.
do you have an electric fan?
I want to know how much of a voltage drop the underdrive pulleys make.

when this happened to you, did the alternator casing get very hot?
