timing

timing
after doing some major engine work my timing wont adjust.....the distrubitor never came out but whenever i try to adjust it no matter which way i move it the timing stays the same any ideas?

eaven with the spout in you can change the base timeing on the engin it just wont be a accauret reading . it does change with the movement of the dizzy . thats how it works . did you lossen the clamp and turn the dizzy . Bull **** the engin will stall if you turnit to far , come on now stop post whoring

Easy fella...
Let's say that someone doesn't pull the SPOUT connector to adjust their timing. They turn the distributor but when they do, the computer wants to keep the timing at its prgrammed spot furing idle, so all the see at the light is hardly any movement.

Post whoring huh?? Well theres a correct way of doing things then theres the advice you gave lol. I suppose you time your car by ear as well? Try a timing light and a Ford Service Manual. And for the record it will stall if you retard the timing too much, but will rev up if you advance it flip side of the coin to everything. 86HOGT hit the nail on the head, the ECM will compensate for timing adjustments when the spout is in.
