Default ignition wires

Does anyone know where I can find a diagram for wiring an ignition, I have a chiltons manual which doesnt tell me jack ****, and i downloaded and painless wiring engine wiring diagram but these arent good enough. I have a short in my ignition and I'm thinking that its between the fuse panel and ignition switch, because the car shuts down at random times but to get it going again all i have to do is turn the key to the start position but with no clutch,( i do not need to use the starter). When I acess the switch its nothing but a cluster**** of wires thanks to the previous owner. I want to rewire the switch but I do not know where any of the wires go, has anyone ever done this? Is it hard? Thanks.

try looking for the wiring diagrams on www.autozone.com
go to repair information and under electrical there is a line on wiring diagrams for various makes and model years.
somewhere along the way you have to enter your car information, make, model and year.
