Default 3.55 or 3.73

i recently bought mystang a year ago in march, its a 5 speedand im not sure if it has the stock gears in it or not, i kno i can take second gear to almost 60mph and i can do about 125-130mph in 4th gear sittin at 5,000rpm... seems to me that its the stock 2.73gears. Also i herd some of the foxbodys came with an optional 3.08 rear stock ?? correct me if im wrong on that one..

ok , say i do have the stock gears.. i want to upgrade to a 3.55 or 3.73, now i do love the top end speed and catching up to people but i would like to getto the best 1/4 mile times also... the car has BBK CAI, 1 5/8'Shorty headers, 2 1/2' Flows, Underdrive pulleys and Short Throw Shift Kit, i will be doing the TrickFlow track heat kit in the future. i just want what would be best for now.

Thankx

i bet you have 3.08s..when i had 2.73s i could do 75 in second
i went with 3.55s cause they were freeand i like them
but i havent ever heard of anyone complaining about 3.73s being too steep although i dont think there is too much of a difference

You definitely have 3.08's unless you have smaller than stock tires... There's another thread where I explained about the difference in gears... Click Here

There isnt a big difference between 3.55 or 3.73. I'd go with what ever is more available or cheaper. I havent really heard people complain about either.

im prolly going with the 3.73's , and still want to do 140+ mph every once and awhile to open her up. but after about 100mph i start to get a nasty vibration on the shifter and it feels like its going through the whole car, im not trusting that

I'd go 3.73.

Mine doesn't vibrate.... well i don't think... its been awhile since ive ran mine over 100... its havin problems so i don't want to push it, and the weather hasn't been the greatest either...

Mine is my DD... doesn't do to bad on gas if you shift at around 2k either
