Default Whats A Good Range

Running an 88 notch with a lightly modded 5.0.With the engine at operating temp(195) and Mobile1 full synth 10w30 in the pan I am getting 18-20psi oil pressure at idle and between 35-40psi at 2000rpm(both readings from a good quality mechanical gauge). Any Opinions(good or bad).

Any opinions/help would be greatly appreciated. Mostlly I am unfamiliar with synthetic oil and wondering if anybody has had any similar reactions with it. My oil pressure was probably about 10-15 psi higher at 2000rpm prior to the synthetic, and about 5psi higher at idle. would using a heavier weight oil be usefull or should I just chalk this up to better flow on behalf of the synthetic and not worry about it.

Nothing wrong with the readings you have. Perfectly normal.

Thanx FLcracker, I know thatbetterpressure doesnt always equalflow and the the same can be said of better flow not equalling more pressure. Just looking for some confirmation that these readings didn't cross some sort of line.

and pressure does not equal lubrication...
the rule of thumb is 10 psi per 1000 rpm... so you might even want to try a thinner oil.
5W-20 or so. The thicker the oil the more wear you're getting on your engine.

From what I know on the subject(which is granted limited)isn't 5-20 way to thin for the engine even with the brand new factory bearing clearances set and without 72000m of wear on the engine. Oil thatthin would drop the oil pressure right into the ground and burn out the bearings, would it not.
