Be careful with some of the suggestions.

A 347 is only as good as the builder. Just because you throw a 3.4" stroke, 5.315" rod, and a 1.175" CH piston, does not mean you will not have problems.

The builder is going to be key here.

A 3.4" stroke, 5.400" rod, and a 1.090" CH piston could still burn oil or live a shorter life, but this is where a good builder can take care of these problems.

The 347 can still "smoke" or last "5,000 miles", but if you get a good builder, you will take care of these problems!
A "builder" that cannot build a reliable 347 stroker setup......... shouldn't be called a "builder".... nor should it be contracted to build, or rebuild, anything.

Yes, so what is your point Joel?

I thought that is EXACTLY what I was saying.

More internet text misinterpreted and wasted....

I know MJR, that was old post before we "chatted", but I want to clarify to anyone reading, that I was just giving out my suggestion, like everyone else in the thread.

It all goes back to that "opinion" thing, which me and MJR have clear now.

Well, after rereading my original post, it came off as me slamming against CI and FS.

That was not my reason for posting "be careful of some of the suggestions."

My original intent was to be on the lookout for bologna coming...

I hope that clears it up.

Dave..... look into the statement and the "reasoning" left to interpretation.......

..... but it's not key if it's a 306, 327, 331? Isolating the 347 as in need of "special requirements" other than the engine setup techniques/procedures any engine requires, is another way of saying.... "if you have a "half-asser" or neophyte working your stuff, go with the other alternatives"....... LOL, that reads like settling for less due to the possibility of incompetence ...... and that shouldn't be a reason to choose any of the others over a 347. If you read what I posted, isn't it another way of saying..... "+1"?

Regarding the Subaru pics, stay tuned.

347, rocks! Hey stinkinlincoln, I run the RPM performers heads which I ported and polished myself, and the comp cam xe294, .558 lift and 112,with a 750 dp.and it will pull like a mother past 7,000, I think maybe you need more fuel or bump the timing till it pings, I get to 42 deg. total advance. I smoked a kid with all the trick flow stuff, so its not that RPMs aren't good, its what you do with them(port and polish) that makes the difference. Also use a coil that makes 50,000 volts, my motor seemed to not make power fast or rev good till I got a master blaster, then wham! Made a world of difference.

With the wrist-pin intersecting the oil ringland, extra attention does need to be paid attention to. The 306, stock bore 327, 331, and one of the 347 combinations does not have this issue to pay attention to.

You need to worry about the oil ringland support rail, dimple placement, p-w clearance,....
