HELP! Overheated
I was driving to school today and my car overheated to 230.[:@] So I shut it off for a while, drove it back home. After that, it was fine, dropped down to 185, and then stayed at 190 when I drove it to school. Could it have been a sticky thermostat? I put on new valve covers, and they are leaking a little bit of oil, so I am going to get new gaskets. What's the problem? Hoses are fine. I have enough antifreeze.

my car runs 210 all day
230 deff isnt normal but he said he overheated at 230F.
overheating to me is hot temperature + mechanical failure.
otherwise, 230 is just running hot

RE: HELP! Overheated
Remove the thermo, stick in boiling water to test. If its not that, Id suspect a faulty fan clutch(if you have one).
It will begin to open instantly then close quickly when removed.
Use all safety precautions while doing so, and do not inhale burning coolant, its a nerve toxin.
