if your talking about slow crank speed and it's an autozone reman unit........as long as connections and cables are good and you don't have long tube headers to cause heat soak...I'd say the cheap reman unit if from autozone has left you screwed!!! one thing I don't buy are starters and alts from autozone...gauranteed monthly to annual replacement.. that's why they carry a lifetime warranty

replace starter... heat soak with already present high resistance in starter contacts and or internal windings couple with heat soak = ups resistance and will cause voltage drop = reduced cranking power

an Ignition module has nothing to do with reduced cranking speed of the starter= 2 completely seperate and independent systems...often times reman starters out of the box are no better than what you took off.. the proper way to verify the prob would be with a multimeter and check for voltage drop on the cable from the selonoid down to starter first and see if there is high resistance in the wire evident by a voltage drop reading on the meter... general rule of thum is anymore than .5 of a volt and high resistance is in the circuit somewhere..but like I said if cables are goodand battery is good= confirmed via load test then = possible bad reman unit

It is a bit difficult to do but can be done, if you have a pair of jumper cables, you can get one cable onto the hot-wire hook for the starter and then touch the other to the battery. The started should now turn over full power. If this happens and all other items have been checked and such my suggestion is to replace the starter cable from relay. I have seen them corroded so bad that the full power is not reached at the starter.
