Stock Acceleration???
My 5.0 is completely stock except for the K&N air filter...which won't do much.
I have a std and my question is what is the approx 0-60mph for this car.
I haven't used a stopwatch but with my phone I hit around 7 secs. Kind of slow if you ask me. I still haven't gotten down what RPM to launch at and how what optimum shiftpoint is.
I think I could somehow hit 6 secs. But I only see secs....not millsecs. so it could be 7.99 ot 7.01.
I think my car comes with the huge 2.73 or something like that. It is the lowest gear ratio that came with stock cars.
Also I removed my air silencer and the car sounds a little deeper. But it seems to feel like it is bogging. My accel times are around the same with the silencer and without. Could it be that the car doesn't have to work as hard to get that little extra air without the silencer therefore sounding like the car is not working as hard...making me think it is bogging?

RE: Stock Acceleration???
you might have the 3.08 rear gear, most 5 speeds manuals got that while the AOD's got the 2.73.
don't worry, you did the right thing getting rid of the silencer as it is quite restrictive to the air flow.
you might try disconnect the negative battery cable for 15 minutes to let the computer reset the KAM, keep alive memory, and then reconnect it to see if this makes it respond to the loss of the silencer better.

last night at the track 1/4 mile I saw mustangs run 16to 9's on average I wouls say mid to upper 14's

and since its convertible, it weighs about 600 lbs more, and i'll see how fast mine can run. i hope it can hit the low 14's.
anyways, a think you can do to make your stang go faster is to turn your air filter cover back on upside down, i dont know if this works for newer generations, but for mine it allows more air to come through the filter, also make sure your filter is in good shape and clean. another thing you can do to make it faster is to change the timing on it, i dont know how thats done though, and just switch to premium gas, and you should be runnin a few milliseconds quiker and a few miles faster

Actually that sounds about right, I tried that with my friend w/ phone stop watch. I "launched" from 2500 (no burn out, just let the clutch grab, probably too slowly) and shifted at I think it was 5000 (I just remember hitting 40mph in 1st and thinking, "uhh my old car (87 sentra) was screaming at 30 in 1st, so I should shift"). And my time was 6.9. If figure if you got a perfect start and shifted at 6100 you could get a 6.1.-6.4 (keeping it open).
It was funny though, I told that to my brother and he's all "Oh I could do so much better, I bet 1st time I could get a 5.5." I then reminded him that the wrx has a little more hp, awd and much lighter and pulls a 5.5-5.4. That kinda shut him up.
But yeah the fox body 5.0s are really under tuned, and you can get soooo much more hp out of them, so just do a few mods (maybe a Predator (I collect no royalties on saying this) tuner for that extra hp) and you should have no problem getting in the 5s.

RE: Stock Acceleration???
hmm now I have to grab my stop watch and do a couple of 0-60s.
Kind of sad that my mom's envoy pulls out low 7s 0-60. My mustang feels faster.
My tires suck too. Bought the car with the "roadhuggers" and they just squeal here and there. Worthless.

Yes it is a small piece of rubber that goes from the cone surrounding the filter to the wheel well. I took mine off and noticed no difference except a little louder. And try not to hijack other people's posts.
