ya its easy, theres like two bolts, undew them. disconnect the electrical on top. i think there might be another small clip. take the belt off the pulley, and pull it out.

Yep pry the tensioner back and remove the belt. A 9/16" wrench to undo the top bolt and a 5/8" socket and ratchet to undo the bottom long bolt. There are two electrical plugs that need to be removed on the alternator. Reinstall the new one in reverse order.
Nothing to it.

When mine took a dumpsky I used it as an excuse to put in a 3rd gen 150Amp alternator. It's so nice at night to be at a light with the AC on foot on the brake with the lights on and watch the needle still be at the higher end of the scale. The stock one must put out what, maybee90 amps at best?

Ok today I removed the battery while the car was running and it stayed on. yesterday i did the same thing and the car died within 5 seconds of me taking off the battery. Anyone know what else this can be? could it be that the alternator is still not too bad?

That's not a very accurate test but the problem in the alternator could be the brushes, as it sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Usually when the brushes arefailing, dirty,or wearing outit will work when it is cold but slowly fail as it warms up.

if you're goign to replace your alt you should really look into doing the conversion to the sn94-95 130amp alt. you'll be much happier down the road.

Go get the alt tested before throwing money on a new one. They will test it under load, it should put out around 13.5-14.5 volts.
