RE: Upper intake Plenum??
in any case just an intake with or without the lowerisnt going to yield you much, you need at least heads too
if you're going the cheap route ive heard of people picking up gt40 heads from a junkyard for like 90 dollars

do your heads before the intake. the bigest gain ive seen on an intake without heads on a stock application is like 14hp.
plus upper plenum without lower to match would not be a wise decision, you'd have to port match which would cost you more money.

gt40 irons are great heads, more like $300/pair gt40p need special headers and i don't like them as much
the cobras is a gt40 based intake, the real gt40 is tubular aluminum...cobra is cast/mass produced gt40, and explorer is the same as cobra but no egr spacer as part of the casting.
anyways... the stocker and gt40's will not bolt up together...in fact NO UPPER WILL BOLT TO THE STOCK 5.0 LOWER.
if you find a good deal...by all means snag it and sit on it, i would do a tubular gt40 just for the looks and do the heads later...but bottom line is...get the heads or a power adder assoon as possible. and if by chance you don't have good gears yet...do them right away and snag up a pair of cheater slicks... traction will make you feel like you picked up 50-80 hp alone.
