they aren't free, but the best mod I can recommend is to change the rear gears to something like 3.73's. this will make the power you have perform much better on the street without doing anything else to the engine. gears + install might run $500 or less and is well worth it IMO.

were in the same boat, i know how you feel. just save up money, i know it will take a while before you get to some heavy mods but its been a year with me and im just now saving for heads.
as for free HP, subtract weight and theirs your free HP!!!

Tune up – good quality plugs, wires, cap, rotor
Clean injectors
Remove air silencer -- it's under the air box in the wheel-well
K&N air filter
Advance timing – experiment to see how high you can advance it and not have pinging.
Synthetic fluids. Not a lot of HP gains, but definitely a good idea for you performance car’s longevity. Change the motor oil, tranny and rear end to synthetics.
Underdrive pulleys. Slows down your accessories, your alternator and A/C, that rob power. Warning: This may slow down your alternator enough to where it discharges at idle.
And no, changong your gears does not feel like your car is lighter...And no it does not increase your hp. GL

yes, when i got 3.73s i was very happy. gears are the best bang for the buck mod, get those first.
if you dont do a lot of highway driving, get the 4.10s. since you have a GT vert which are the heaviest of the foxs.

Well I started with 3.73 when I bought the car so I must just be used to the feel...? I drove my buddy's 5.0 with stock gears and it was not THAT big a diffrence IMO. But yes I could feel a change, just not in hp.
