Default If I don't get a cam...

when I install my gt40p's and gt40 intake, will the stock valve springs do me good or are they gonna be floating? I ask because the cost of a cam + new springs is going to cost my damn near $300. I'm not even sure what a cam will give me but I hear the people putting down decent numbers w/ stock Mustang cam.

stock cam is ok, put 1.7 rockers on it

personally i'd replace them. it's not much, i am doing stock cam, w/ heads intake swap. it was $45 to have my head porter putupgraded valve springs (doubles) on my edelbrocks

i'll have some numbers soon hopefully, waiting on the heads

I am using the stock cam with my GT40P heads and Cobra intake and haven't had any valve float, I am making pretty decent power with this combo too.

Stock valve springs too then?

So any idea on how much a good cam would give you on a 40p setup?
If I don't get a cam I will save on springs, cam, and new lifters. Brings my costs way down.

get the tfs kit TFS-2500100 $130 I just got mine yesterday really nice kit amazing for the price springs with dampners new retainers (different for intake & exhaust installed height) keepers(locks) new seals shims, height gauge, and seal install tool, really comprehensive kit, they state good for .540" lift cam but I would NOT go that high with this kit but WOULD get it even if stock cam.
You could later get E303, tfs stage 1, etc etc to go along with this kit but im sure it will allow you to rev a bit higher and its good insurance even with stock cam!

I am pretty sure they are stock springs, I have twistedthe engine up to 5500 rpms many times without any valve float. I know I'm giving up some power by using the stock cam but it does what I want it to for now

If you are going to use the stock cam leave the springs in the GT40's alone unless it has a lot of miles on them. If so replace them with stocksprings.Advance the 6 deg's and throw on a set of 1.7 Cobra rr or FMS 1.72 rr.

My p's have 200k on them so I suppose I could put my E7 springs on there. btw does anyone know how much hp I could gain by doing a cam swap? It's going to cost over $300 for the cam+ supporting parts, want to know if it's worth it or not.

it 's nothow much you can gain by just a cam swap but choosing the right set of matched parts for your combo will have a more over all gain in the end......
