cant get my car to idle
Im pretty sure i know what the problem is but i just want to make sure. I started working on my car at 9 last night and finished it completely at 3am( h/c/i and suspension and putting the rear end in). I was running it open headers just to see what it sounded like when i first started it, but it wouldnt idle, i think its because the 02 sensors werent hooked up?. Seems how i fired my car up at 3am, open headers, my friendly neighbors called the cops on me, i really dont blame them though. Luckily the cop was very interested in my car, he's a local fox owner .

RE: cant get my car to idle
I've run plenty w/o O2's, the Check Engine light doesn't even light up until after 5 mins of driving. So I doubt it's them...
How about vaccum, maybe you accidentaly cracked one of those? If you're using the old plastic ones you only need to look at them for 'em to crack... Good luck!

what the crap were you thinking?? of course you should of expected the cops to show up[&:]....anyway hook it all up like it should be and retry...with a new h/c/i you'll most likely have to reset the KAM, by disconnecting battery and perform an idle relearn and go from there..if you still have issues, run a koeo/koer test and see if the ecm picks up a problem....make sure you have no vaccum lines left not hooked up and or vaccum leaks

RE: cant get my car to idle
I finally got it, i had the timing all out of wack . I havent got a chance to drive it yet, but when i finally got it running right, i can tell that the h/c/i is gonna wake it up big time. Gonnago on myfirst drive tommorow, it should be fun, with the new h/c/i and gears.

Also it could be the IAC Controller (inlet air controller) which controls bypass air passed the throttle body to regulate the indleing speed.
You can remove it easely and clean it with Throttle Clearner spray or replace it, its easy to do on a cold engine.
