Default U Joints

I heard if you replace U joints that you have to have the driveshaft balanced, so that makes it where I can't do it myself. Is there anything I can do to quiet it down before I fix it? Grease or anything? So u know, i have done Motor/Tranny mounts.

You do not have to balance the driveshaft when replacing u-joints. If they are bad replace them.

there is but you dont need it. just use a flat head screwdrive and pop the retaining clips out(4 for each u joint) then use a socket of same diameter as the bearing cap but make sure the socket is small enough to drive through the hole the U joint is held in. do this on all 4 sides and remove U joint.

when installing the U joint I used a C-clamp to press fit the bearing caps back on.
replace the retaining clips and install the drive shaft

hope this helps

Get them from a parts store (AutoZone, Advanced, etc.). Just make sure that when you take you driveshaft out, mark the driveshaft to the rearend first then take it out, then mark the yoke to the driveshaft on both ends. That way when you put it back in the car you want have a vibration at speed.
