Alright i havent had a chance to look at the cam yet but i will when i get off work today. But i need to go ahead and get me some lifters ordered. What kind should i go with? The ones in it are probably the ford racing ones which happen to be cheap as hell. MAYBE thats why it failed? What kind of lifters would you guys suggest me getting?

Im going to look better tonight, i didnt take the lifter bracket off completly last night so i will and get me a magnet and go threw there... But just to make sure we are talking about the same thing im talking about the C looking clip that goes in the end of the lifter and holds everything in.

Aight guys i got it in tonight, everything went pretty smoothly... I go to reset the timing, now car wont start. Mainly backfiring out of the carb so im pretty sure its the timing thats off, only thing i dont get is that im following the ford manual to a T. Set at TDC, and aligning the rotor cap were the pin is going to strike the first cylinder plug first. Im pretty sure that i have it correct because when i do this it aligns with some marks the previous owner made on the cap. What could be wrong?

You still need to do the compression check to see if you have valve leakage due to a bent valve.
