Default No oil in valve cover?

Hey guys i really need some help here. I had broken a lifter in my mustang not long ago as many of u already know... I replaced the lifter and did all that, i had to adjust that rocker so now its off by a little bit no biggie right. Well i started the car with the valve cover off to see which rockerthe ticking was coming from(to see if it was the one i was messing with). Anyways i was expected oil to hit me in the face but to my surprise no oil at all showed up... The only oil up there was the oil that was there when i started working on the car to begin with. What could be the problem guys? When i bought the car about a month or so ago i noticed at idle the oil pressure was VERY low but when i reved past around 2krpm it would shoot way up.

Ill be honest and hope your just low on oil.

The lifter metal flaking and bearings(metal rollers) scorn the crankshaft and rod bearings and then those bearings put even more metal particles all into the oil and clutters in the pump.

Upon taking out all the lifters and soaking them in oil, I noticed all of them had metal going to the bottom of the jug, the oil was in.

So what needs to be done, pull the motor? Rebuild or just replace the pump and some other things...

check the oil level first, if ok pull the dipstick, let it sat on a magnet for 10 mins, then dip it back in.

If it comes up with metal flakes, time to overhaul.

If not change the oil and use 20w50 to hold you off.

The cam is a CompCams 282HR, the lifter did not look like it would have had any shavings tooken off of it, and the roller part looks flawless... It somehow broke into 3 pieces and the retaining clip was lost, i was hoping it would either sink to bottom of oil pan or get ground up...

how do you go about fixing the broken lifer because today i just did a burn out and now its ticking. it might be a lifter head gasket or hopefully timing just when out of wack. but if it is a lifter i want to be prepared

first with the motor upper end back together there are two things you can do the first being the easiest= remove oil pressure sending unit and get a mech gauge and perform a test with gauge to confirm low pressure......if failure was centralized in one area = that part...you can also remove distributor and get a 1/4 socket on an extention and prime the oil system manually with a drill and see if oil comes out where the cup is on the underside of the rocker where the push rod seats

confirm it with a gauge test...to make sure it's not just a bad sending unit
