Got a new 8.8 (well, new to me
I just picked up a 8.8 from a junkyard that came out of an '87. Short of taking it to a shop to have it checked out, is there anything I can do to check it's integrity? Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

something I can do myself? never been into a rear end before (mustang, that is ). I'm fairly mechanically inclined, so with a little instruction, would it be difficult?

5LDoner - I found it at Denver Ford Parts in Commerce City. $275. Is that a good price? Yeah, I'd like to check out what you have. I'm in Westminster off of 80th and Sheridan. E-mail me. Spence69@aol.com

Vfast - According to the junk yard and the ID tag on the diff, it is a 2.73. I'll pull the cover and check it out. BTW, I have an extra set of shocks mounted to this 8.8 that I can't find on my 7.5 that is in my '83 now. This 8.8 came from an '87. I was under the impression that this was a direct bolt in. What does this extra set of shocks do?
