Default offroading?

I have an '84 GT. With the limited slip diff, I think the car could handle dirt roads. Ground clearance will need addressing. I am thinking skidplates. Previous owner says the car gets really squirrely on dirt roads. Anybody ever try offroading a 'stang?

I think it would be great fun to lay waste to the "prerunner" mini trucks! Does anybody remember the East Africa Safari Rally in "60s? Hollman-Moody tricked out some merc' comets and ran them off road-they did very well. </P>

i personally think that would rock, but traction may be an issue for high speed cornering
