AOD shifting 1?DDNRP (B&M? give you 2nd?)
I just wondered if you bought like a hammerhead B&M shifter for an AOD in my 90, if that would let you shift from 1 to 2 and then to D or if there was a way to do that? Now I pull it back into 1 after it shifts to 2nd to hold it in 2nd till I`m ready for D. Is the hammerhead just a ratchit shifter that keeps the same pattern?

you should get a manual valve body with a ratchet shift. it will work better then the way you are doing it now. isnt shifting into 1 while in second hard on the trans?

no the shifter doesnt do **** for you.
manual valve body isnt recomended for street use
you can get a good valve body that you dont need to worry about touching hte shifter leave it in D and hit the gas pedal. but if you go with lentech valve body L D OD is now 1,2,3 and OD is locked out unless you hit hte button

Thanks ohsoquik02, and how is the way I`m doing it now hard on the tranny? It doesn`t actually shift back into 1st . I start in 1st, then shift to the D position, after the tranny has shifted it`s self into second gear I am going fast enough when I put the shifter in the 1 position that the tranny doesn`t shift to 1st, it just holds it in 2nd till I`m ready to shift again then I pop it into D for 3rd. and then into overdrive. How can that be hard on it? I know it`s kinda tricky. If you pull it back too soon with not enough RPMs it can shift to first, but if you wait too long it will be in 3rd before ya know it. I have been shifting with an AOD this way for years and never a problem. As a matter of fact, I drag racer showed me how to do this to get everything out of each gear.
Ohh ya, and Is there a good streetable stall and what RPM would that be....1500-2000RPM?

Well, like it says in my Sig. I have a shift kit and I admit it does a good job. I just like to shift it. I know someone is going to say buy a stick then. I thought a shifter would look good and was wondering if I would get any other improvements, or just looks. Thanks for the help tho.

manually shifting it from L D L is very bad on the OD bands. see what happens is when you do this it will allow two bands to work together at once which will cause premature wear. first OD will got then D will go then youll only have L,2 and R since these are on the same band
on my old set up i had a 3k stall. on my new setup i still have 3k stall.

well just be informed that the AOD will do a better job shifting than a human. i suggest you let it shift for you. if you really like shifting then yes, get a 5 speed lol...
