on a bone stock '90- 5.0 motor--- of course the 90 engines were forged bottom ends but still. I'd worry about the block more then anything if it stock...
stock hp #'s have held on some early 90 models up to 555hp... then the block goes (kaabbooommmm!!!) within a matter of time.
most ppl state that the bottom ends are good for around 510-520 and the block is good for around 525... But that'd be pushing it.... IMO on factory parts.--- although i am touchin that (489hp- 473rwhp w/ a 5spd)

nope not a myth.... 90-91-forged... 92-93 had hyper___ics (dunno how to spell it piston and rods)

On a DD w/ a turbo air/air-- (damn thats a lot work and $$$)-- if it were my car-- no more then 12lbs. Put a good tune on it, test it to see if you can squeeze out another lb or so.

GL with it..

1985 - 1992 5.0 H.0. came with forged pistons, 1993 hypereutectic pistons. I agree with the estimates of block breakage, but those #'s would of course be with good Air/Fuel ratio[sm=smiley1.gif]!
