Default Aod problem

I've got a 1988 5.0 w/an aod. When you try to start the car in park it would act like the motor was seized. When I put the trans in neutral the car would start and run fine. If I shifted into reverse or first the trans would stall the motor. When I got the trans pulled apart, I found the pump thrust washer completely melted. Has anyone run into this type of problem before? Any help would be appreciated.

yea im not a fan of the AOD i had same problem in other cars, get you a used C-4 and rebuild it, will only cost you about $200 to rebuild with a B&M kit and its alot stronger then the aod
