Doubt it since the noise has been in there since the first crank of the motor.i'm gonna take the front of the motor apart bec my engine build said that maybe i had an lifter oil galley plug fall out, he has only seen it happen 3 times in 35 years but if it aint this i got to pull the motor to do more investigating

RE: Last chance with valve train noise
do you have an old set of valve covers?
if you do, cut the top part out, put like 3 bolts in on each side and start it up, check for oil going to all the rockers through the pushrods, and word of advice dont rev it up quick, oil goes every where lol

RE: Last chance with valve train noise
if the galley plug fell out i wouldnt think you'd have oil coming from the rocker arms on that side of the motor cause none of those lifters would have oil pressure.
and its a well known racer "trick" to drill and tap those holes (mine are)..... so i dunno what your buddy was talking about

RE: Last chance with valve train noise
when i pulled my motor i checked the bearings in my bottom end and the rod and main bearings were worn into the copper so I put in new rod and main bearings and polished the crank. I checked with plasti gauge the new bearings and they were within the recommended range listed in the Haynes manual. Also while i was in the bottom end i replace the oil pump and oil pump shaft, and flushed out all the oil and coolant passeges.
