Default Quick battery relocation ?

I just did a battery relocation to the truckand i was wondering if you must connect the ecu ground directly to battery or could i just ground it to frame or body. I have read some which say both, I'm just asking for people with experience who've done it and know.

Did u just run like 8 guage, all the way back to the battery .. Kinda seems like a waste? I'd figure if u have a good sufficient ground source that it would make its way back ? K well thx for the reply. i'll run the wire back to the battery.
