blower style

RE: blower style
If you don't want your headers glowing then I suggest you don't get to very high hp #'s...
Glowing headers isn't a problem it's just caused by the very hot exhaust gasses passing through it at a fast rate. You stuff more air & fuel in an engine it's going to burn hotter, there's not much of a way around.
Roots style are the more reliable of the s/c's.
as far as ease of install, you're probably better off with a centrifugal type of supercharger (which are not blowers). Procharger is a type of centrifugal. Roots tend to be a little harder to install since they require moving your throttle body to a different location, which depending on where to could require replacing the throttle cable with a longer one.
You can adjust the boost of a supercharger with a different pulley. If you want to get into some custom work you could install a wastegate on the intake plumbing to help control boost from inside the car. I don't know much about doing that, but it's been done successfully before.
I think you'll probably be plenty happy with a centrifugal supercharger without boost control though.
