Default Conversion help (pics)

Im in the process of converting my 1990 Mustang over to a carb setup and I was told to use a reman distributor for a 1985 Mustang with a steel gear and for a manual transmission. I bought one from Napa, but the problem is that the 1985 dist is about 3/4" shorter than the original EFI one. What am I missing here? I ran to Autozone and their 1985 is the same length as Napas version. Thanks
