Default revs take awhile to drop

so i've noticed on my stock 95 that when i hit the gas my's 5.0 seems sluggish to get the revs up but also to drop them back down.... in my fox i never had that happen it would pop up and drop right back down. just trying to see if theres any kind of reason This 5.0 would do it and my other one didnt

that would be the dash pot function on an sn-95.. I believe that is a normal function controlled by the ecm

ok it just buggs me that it takes so long to drop my revs. so if i got a chip burned or something would that let it rev more like my fox did?

I love how my RPMs hang a little, makes driving it so much easier. I've been told the screw on the top of the TB adjusts how long the idle hangs, try turning it down a few and see if it makes a difference. As for being slow to rev up, sounds like something is a lil off.

I can't remember if the dashpot function can be tuned out.. on a stand alone tuner I believe it can be as for a chip burned to remove it?? Joel5.0 may know

i remembered my fox would rev up fast while i was moving but then again it's more of my race car now.... this ones stock so i was still thinking like i was in the fox lol my bad.
but would there be a reason it doesnt wanna break into tripple digits easy? cause i was told the sn's didnt have a speed limiter.
also i have the dreaded 5.0 surge.... and i know for a fact i have no vaccume leaks, i've checked time and time again. it doesnt do it continuiously either it'll do it and then stop and then do it again randomly

Well your sig says that it was sitting for a year. Did you do a full tune up? It sounds like it may need it.

yep, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, fuel filter, fuel system cleaner and oil change. i sprayed out my maf cause it was pretty nasty, and that helped my idle. but im considering pulling the upper intake and cleaning it all out cause i sprayed some carb cleaner in there and all kinds of brown stuff came out so i know it has well over 100k miles dont know exact cause the little odometer gear problem. i know what to do but i just havent had the time to do it. im thinking it could be the iac clogged up since the maf didnt look too good
