Default gears went in today...a bit dissapointed

well i got my car back from the shop today. i had 3.73's, 31 spline frpp limited slip, 31 spline moser's, all new bearings and speedo gear. im pretty mad i didnt get 4.10's[:@] there seems to be almost no change in rpm from 2.73's. it pretty noticable but i wanted more. i havent really gotten on them yet sense the guy who installed them said that the clutch packs are really tight and need to get a couple days of easy driving on them for a break in. i havent done any dead stop launches but i have stepped on it while in 2nd and going about 20 to 80mph. its nice but like i said, i wanted more. in a couple days ill try a nice smokey burn out, and also womp on it from a stop.
i can defenitely see how gears get you better miliage around town. my car is almost always in 3rd or 4th. during the ride home from work i noticed that even when going around turns it stayed in 3rd gear and then quickly went into 4th.
There is no wine and the car runs really smooth. i paid $300 even and the guy used synthetic oil with some ford friction modifier.

after all that, i have a question. im going to the track on the 14th. this will be the first time that i will have 2 wheel drive and can do burn outs. my question is, is there any good in doing a burn out with street tires? slicks are coming soon (i hope) but not yet.

Don't do a burn out on street tires, it will hurt thirt grip. What you should do is drive around the water box and do a very shout spin with the tires just enough to clean ant gravel or dirt that may be on them. Street tires do not get sticky with a burn out like a slick because of the differance in the compound used.

Exactly. Just give them a few rotations to get any debris off of them.

You didn't add a power adder, you added a torque multiplier.

Ok I got confused when JD1969 said that they dont get sticky.....I beg to differ. I had very little tred on some bfg radial t/a's...Well I did a couple of runs with no burnout, I got 2.3x and 2.4X 60' times....but when I did burnout....I mean burnout, I burned the F*ck out of them...When I did that I got 2.1x and 2.2x 60' times...but not all tires are the same. THese new tires I have on now dont like to be burned out...In fact I loose tracion when I heat them up..some how when I heat them up they get kind oil feeling....I dont get traction very when I do a burnout on those. So try either way, some tires like it, some dont. Experiment see what better.

Also Luckythirteen...I was disapointed with my 4.10's when I first had them installed..I wish I went 4.30...but after driving and being in other car with 3.73' and 3.55's I love 4.10's And dont worry 1'st gear isnt that short...its a perefectly streetable gear. Not to make you feel bad but if your staying N/A, I would have went 4.10's, but if ur going to super/turbo...I would have went 3.55/3.73.
