Grinding ?
OK so I just put in a new clutch disc and transmission. When I start my car with the clutch depressed their is no grinding as soon as I let the clutch out I hear a grinding noise (even if its still in neutral) Any ideas what this could be? My guess is flywheel or tob? The bellhousing has a slight vibration when its doing the grinding (dad got under and heard/felt it)
As the car was shutting off with the car in neutral clutch out you can hear the grinding kinda like its spinning and coming to a stop. Thats what makes me want to think its the flywheel?
I am kinda bummed that I have to take it all apart again bla

RE: Grinding ?
yeah it sucks I just want to drive my car...
I guess I will order a new tob and pilot bearing. do you think that one of those is the culprit? the transmission is a slightly used gforce t5 with the 26 input spline. since my old input was 10 do you think the tob is different size?

RE: Grinding ?
Well, what was the reason for replacing the tranny and was the noise there before? I'm assuming not but asking anyway. Process of elimination bro. 2 new parts and now there's a noise correct? The disk is the same diameter as the old one right?

RE: Grinding ?
nope noise was not there before, I wanted a beefed up tranny so I can have peace of mind at the track.
disc is the same diameter, but looking at summits site. my old 10 spline disc has input shaft diameter of 1.062
and new 26 spline disc diameter of 1.125
but both recommend the same part # tob.
Hmm, looks like it says the clutch disc will work with both centerfoce I and centerforce II pressure plates. and since I have a centerforce dual friction. maybe thats the issue.

Well when you put the disk in, did you take note that it was l slightly larger in diameter. When you pull it back apart, try to look at everything carefully as you disassemble it. Look for shiney spots/marks in places that there shouldn't be any. That's where you'll find the problem.
