could it be a bad gas cap? when i take off the gas cap i hear air coming out of the filler hose

I'd leave the cap off if you think pressure building is a problem.

First thing I'd check would be the gas cap........

Need more info. Stalls or dies? Start right back up? Look to see if there's gas in the bowls when it dies? Ignition module could be going out.. fuel filter plugged. Dounbt it's vapor lock since they come with a return line.
