Default Easy BOLT ON HP!

whats some easy bolt ons that would really up the hp on my stock 95 5.0L Gt motor? Right now its bone stock and the hp should be around 215 flywheel. I have about 1000 bucks to spend set aside for bolt ons or whatever. Help me out and where would i be around with a few easy bolt ons?

Many people will have different opinions. Personally I would add rear gears(3:73 manual/4:10 auto), remove the air silencer in the fender, plug in a K&N filter, bump up timing(free), add a set of underdrive pulleys, and add a nice catback(magnaflow or flowmaster). This should add a little more horsepower and make your car more funner. Once the mod bug hits, theres no turning back

edit: ok so the air silencer is in the filter? what about just doing a cold air intake? does that have a silencer also? what about like a cobra 5.0 intake off a cobra motor

The silencer is really easy to remove. Its right in the fender where the airbox is. Takes 2 minutes to remove and will do nothing to hurt emissions. There's a good chance the previous owner may have removed it. The silencer is a plastic (rubber sometimes) snout that protrudes from your air filter box through a hole in the fender. It sucks cool air from outside the engine compartment. If you remove it (simple matter of pulling it off, but you'll have to unbolt the air filter box in some cars first) you'll usually net some horsepower (3-4 maybe). There's alot of links on ow to do it.

hmm ok cool wellits worth the cheap hp gain for minimal work. so headers, exhaust, maybe a cold air intake, underdrive pullies, k&n filter. what else? i notice alot of people put bigger injectors and that sorta stuff?

Injecotrs are fine stock until you add heads, cam and an intakes. Then you'll need to step up to some 24's or 30lb injectors. Your list is fine, but I would really reccomend adding 3:73 gears. It won't hurt your mileage, and may actually inprove city m.p.g. It doesn't add horsepower, but it sure feels like it. One of the best mods you can get.

If it was my money the choice would be 4:10s or a 100 shot. You'll want gears eventually, but the juice would be fun, under your budget, and perfectly safe if you do your research first. They will both make a huge difference. If you know anyone who knows how to install gears, get 4:10s ($200) and spend the other $800 on a nice 100 shot with window switch, bottle heater, ect. That will last you, then when you get another $300-$400 get some stickey tires and you will probably see low thirteens.

gears will cost about 400$ installed. You can do them yourself but I've heard its a pain. A cold air intake would be beneficial. Get one off ebay for 40$. That's what I did, and it worked great. A cobra intake manifold would be a good choice for the street. Eventually you will want to compliment the intake with some nice heads and a cam. A short throw shifter would help too. Hope this helps!
