Default piston selection

I am currently running and 11.5:1 347 stoker in my 1990 got. It has all the bolt ons and necesary parts to go fast. But, I am really afraid of throwing a rod at high rpm. And since I bought the car with the motor i would like to take it out, have it bored and put a stock crank back in a add a s/c. The only thing is i am not sure on the piston selection. And if you also have some info on rods, crank, and a cam selection proccess. I am going to be making a **** ton of money this summer and i am gonna totally redo my car. Any help would be great.

if it is a 347, it is already bored 0.030"
most 347 kits are pretty good about strength, but I would at least take it apart just to make sure.
do you want to sell your crank, rods and pistons after you go back to 302?

once i go back to the 302 i will sell my rotating assembly. and i already realize the bore size and was considering going to a larger piston. such as a bore of 4.060 to make the car a 310. but i was just wondering what pistons were good and if anyone had any horror stories for me.

i have heard very good things about 331's with superchargers on them. I would recommend you to get a good 331 stroker kit with forged everything and have it balanced and it would run a S/C with no problem. My cousion is doing it soon to his stroker

well first I would in no way go back to a stock crank...what I would do is use that crank and find a set of flat top pistons for a 331 and find the right rods and then have it all balanced.....that 347 can be used with a S/C ..if compression is a problem a cheap fix is to go with a thicker head gasket..you didn't say what heads you have........now if you keep the 347 then a dish piston would be needed for the S/C
