I havean 88 Gt HO drop top and have started having electrical problems all of a sudden. My turn signals dont work and my "air system" like my heater and regular vent flow also dont work anymore. Every once in a while the 4dash warninglights flash on and off and then everything except my turn signals work. My electric top even goes down again! Then they flash again and it doesnt work again! It worked just fine about a month ago. My hazards still work too and my fuses are fine. I am begining to be frustrated.. Has anyone experianced this before? If so what did u do too trouble shoot it and how did remedy the problem? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.</P>

Well i think it could be one of these possibilties.</P>


Postivie and negative wire is touching some where in your electrical wiring.</P>


Poor ground wire.</P>


Or your comp is f**ked. </P>

What would be the best way to trouble shoot for these problems? I have about 1,200 invested in this car allready so do u think i should get a quick fix and sell it? hahaha It has 79,000 on it, good paint decent NT and im debating on what to do next.. </P>

well i dont know if it would help but try and get your codes run. And it might determine the problem. If not then its up to you what you want to do with your cr

Will having the codes run determine if i have a short or or bad ground wire? Does the computer also control the interior features of the car (i.e. turn signals,electric top, heater and venting) In thinking back at a previous reply to this post..I have a feeling that a bad ground is what is cuasing my problems becuase when i went to have a stereo deck put in.. they said that there was a problem with the consistancy or something of that sort. What would be a way to check for this and remedy if this is the case? I appreciate the helpvery much viper.. I guess problems in a way give you something to do in your spare time. Alas, the struggle continues...<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

try removing the instrument cluster and checking the wires to see if any have burn spots or any of the grounds are broke loose.

Well hmm im pretty good with all this wiring crap but itshard to determine qite a few on / in your car lol. </P>


Best thing to do is get a new battry 8 out of 10 tims the battery is either shot or the negitive connection is bad so try that. If that doesent work then theres a pain saking task of checking the ground wires in your vehicle. WHAT FUN!! 2 bad you live in cali id help ya out</P>

yeah.. tell me about it... at least i cant say that im bored. lol. After all the work i put into this car it will frick'n all most completely brand new.. and to top it of, last night some "geniuses" thought that by cuting along the edges of my convertable glass back window.. that they would not set off my alarm. Well when i came out of my house 1/2 asleep and with baseball bat.. they decided thier plan didnt work.. so guess i will also have a new top come next summer along with a reveampedelectrical system. What some will do to sataisfy thier automotive excellance fix goes without saying.. <IMG src=smileys/smiley11.gif border="0">im almost tempted to choke it up and put this baby in the shop and tell them to have thier way with me as long as it runs like its the spring of '87.. almost.

yeah, gun was my first choice, but opted for the bat because my son was asleep and really didn't feel like waking him up anymore then my alarm had done allready. lol its funny how what goes around comes around though becuase i recognized one of the culprits as a "rice rocket" racer with a camoflage hacth back civic that i made look funny at the races. he was also wearing a sweatshirt from a local high school that read "class of 02".. what a coincidence right? I think not... i guess the fun has only just begun. </P>


oh yeah.. i wish had parts.. i need to smog my car and just happen to have no cats and a off road X pipe, and modified intake... Cali is a great place to be, if you feeling like being reemed and harrased by the DMV and paying out of where the sun doesnt shine for registration. Oh yeah Arnold is our new govener so hopefully he will lower the vehcile tax that has recently just be TRIPLED!
