Nitous on a stock block.

Nitous on a stock block.
Hello, I have a 347 in my car that is pretty mean, but I want to add a little extra something to help out when I take it to the track. I don't know if I really want to tear into the engine again, so I am thinking about adding a wet plate kit to go under my Demon carb. It is a 72 model block that has been retrofitted with a coast high roller cam and stock style late model roller lifters and retainer. Do you all think it will handle a 100 shot without splitting the block?

try running it N/A to get a baseline and et and that'll give you an idea where your at power wise..hold of on the NO2....THIS is what I did and will prep my car in the coming months to spray the 100 shot at the track in the fall but as it is N/A I'm already running mid 11's so the No2 will put me close to stock block limits.....just ease into it I don't wanna take my block out again and all it takes is one shot of NO2 and kaaaaaboom you'll be back to square one..trust me I went through this last september

i dont know about a 72 block but my 89 gt block handled a 200 shot. but i believe it has all forged internals. dont know about the earllier blocks and rotating assembly.

you can run the 100 shot all day long if your fuel system can handle the added fuel requirements.
I ran a 250 shot on my stock shortblock for a while and it made 305rwhp before the spray.

400 total is a good place to be, 500 is about your maxxed out max and i wouldn't go that far on a stock block

RE: Nitous on a stock block.
Ok, 500 rwhp? or 500 at the crank??? I should be making about 400 at the crank now, but I want to get it dynoed sometime soon after I get my gears and posi and change the carb. The pistons are hyperuetectic speed pro's with the skirt coatings, the rods are forged eagle, an the crank is a cast steel also from eagle. I also forgot to mention that I did put a main stud girdle and windage tray in it when I built it. Its just that I don't want to hurt the drivability of it, and if I go adding better heads and intake ect., its going to hurt street drivability and cost more money. So... Im thinking that the nitrous is the way to go. Just a small 100 shot to help get it down the track on those rare nights. I plan on putting an RPM switch on it so it will come on at like 3500 rpm and shut off at 5500 rpm and also put in a boost retard so that it will automatically back the timing off when its being fed the go fast juice. What do you all think??? Should I try the 100 shot after I get everything else dialed in, or should I stay smaller, like a 75 shot?

Ive had a plate and fogger on my 347 on and off for 8 years... Ive been successful and been burned... this was on a 68 block.
A well built 347 is already nearing the limitations of a stock block.... any significant amount of nitrous is pushing it.

RE: Nitous on a stock block.
what hp are you pushing? those old blocks are stronger than the 79-93 ones, and I'm running a 100 shot in a 302 block with .040 cut stock heads.
I dont think that you would have a problem....
