Help new to the AOD
Just bought a clean, 40,000 mile 1 owner gt, car is an AOD, had 3 bracket cars, all were tremec or g-force, this car is totally stock, right down to the airbox and mufflers, and stock headers are sad, had never seen a pair, anyways... car shifts into second at 4750 rpms, i was gonna do a H/C/I with some gear, but at that rpm, it would probally be just as slow... Is this normal, and how can i get the shift points to 6-6500 rpms?
Thanks for your help in advance

RE: Help new to the AOD
My recomendation is to install a Baumann shift kit. This kit allows you to taylor your shifts, by installing spacers behind one of the valves in the valve body. You have to pull the valve body to install the shift kit, but once it's installed, you can change the shift points by removing the pan only. If interested, you can call them and talk to Carl Baumann

A second option is you can perform the "epoxy mod" on the valve body. This requires you remove the valve body, separate the 2 halves, drill a couple holes in one of the ports, and partially fill one of the ports with epoxy. I believe this is the same modification that Lentech performs on some of it's valve bodies. This modification will allow you to hold 1st gear (1) as long as you want, shift to second (D) and hold it as long as you want, then shift to 3rd (OD) and it will hold 3rd until you back off a hair to shift to 4th. This is preferred over the 1-D-1 shuffle which will eventually kill your AOD. See the post from Click Click Racing for details on the epoxy mod. Nice thing about this mod is it cost less than $20. Lots of info on Click Click Racing'ssite for your AOD
