Default Distributor gear

I'm puttin a new PIP sensor cause my cars dead and thats the code it was thrown before it bit the dust. I've unscrewed the some stuff on top and took the 2pins out of the shaft. I'm tryin to get the distributor gear off the shaft so i can change the PIP, did I skip a step. I know the dist. gear needs to be pressed off. I'm takin it some where to get the gear pressed off. I just want to double check with anyone whose done this before. thanks

Heat the gear some with a propane torch so it will expand some and come off easier. You will be less likely to break it this way.

the dizzy gear doesn't need to come off.. the stator can be replaced from up top...remove all ignition components on cap...like tfi module and cap and using two screwdrivers I have been able to pry reluctor star wheel up and off.. there is a little pin that locks it / holds it in place.. be careful not to loose it....then the stator un screws from dizzy base/ slide up and off.. just did it last month

Yeah, I wasn't sure if it had to come off or not, but just in case it did I thought I'd throw the heat trick at him.

Looks like I'm wrong if this is an sn-95 dizzy..if that be the case you'll need to drive out the roll pin on the dizzy gear, press it off or flip it upside down and support gear and use a brass hammer to tap it off and them remove roll pin on upper collar and remove collar and then pull the shaft out..sorry there were three types I've done and each was different but I have a sn dizzy here to verify what I stated here
