Yes that is true. It also makes the car handle slightly worse.

slightly worse is an understatement.

it is very noticibly worse, and then double that if you run skinnies.

but w/ that being said... mine is off and never to go back on

not 100% sure but am thinking that a couple companies make quick detach/removable sway bars for 5.0, in case you are interested in having it both ways
