Default 89 AC ??

How many o-rings are in an 89's AC system, that would need to be replaced? Going to overhaul the system and want to get all the leaks.

Thanks

8-10 but best idea is take loose connections and mark location and match them up and when servicing the a/c system as such you really will need to replace reciever drier/ accumulator as the desicant dag inside goes bad quick when open to atmosphere then when all put back together the system should be drawn into a vaccum to remove all moisture and leak checked via vaccum hold test

this time a year I do a/c work day in and day out.....when you undo any and all line connections in an a/c system there will be an o-ring to seal it..and alot of times the o-rings at the conections from one connection to another are different sizes.... so just remember which o-rings you take off and where they go and go to the parts store and match any and all o-rings up you need and lube them with ester oil when reinstalling and I assume the r-12 system has been converted to 134a now??

System has not been converted, part of the plan. Has a leak and I wanted to clean out the system and convert. What can do to clear out the entire system, to include the compressor? Vacume?

buysome a/c flush then squirt it through any lines you remove and squirt it in the condensor and evaporator.. then used compressed air to blow it all out until no more will come out......then install all lines and o-rings remembering to lube them with ester oil and then install reciever dryer and before all this drain compressor measuring oil removed and install same amount plus .5 to 1 once on top of that and there is a spec guide for all components you flushed out that will tell you how much extra oil / total system capacity is.......then once all is back together you need to draw system into a vaccum for at least 45 min to remove all moisture then system can be charged with proper amount of 134a and spin the compressor clutch over 10 to 12 times before starting car up= spin clutch over by hand.........I'd also replace the line with the orifice tube in it incase is is partially clogged with debris so a/c system will function properly and cool efficiently
