Default Timing sweet spot??

I just recently adjusted my timing to be at 16 degrees advanced. It runs a lot better than the 9 degrees it was at.

I was told that around 14 degrees is the "sweet spot" for the 5.0s. Is this true? Should I retard my timing to 14 degrees or keep it at 16 it is at now.

I have a 93 GT 5spd and run only 93 octane gas.

every motor is different. you have to play around with it. you can try lowering it to 14 and see how it feels. if you loose power, go back to 16

I turn mine all the way to right before where it knocks. It seems my cam likes all the timing it can get. When it's up all the way with 108 octane it will be very quick up in high rpm, but miss ALOT at low rpm.

just bump it till motor pings then back it down ,,you should be running super unleaded ...right ?? whan you bump up timing you also bumps up the total..some times you got to recuve your timing .

I have gone to 20 degrees and no ping. I don't like it there.

Guess I will have to try 14 and see what is better.

Thanks
