Well, I don't think the water/coolant mix would make me overheat 40 degrees, and the radiator is brand new.
if you were running straight anti-freeze, you bet your *** it would

wouldnt you notice poor idle quality if the head gaskets were bad?
only if the compression ring were blown and allowing coolant to enter chamber.. but to answer your question..no not always

Okay well, I did mix the coolant 50/50, and I understand its overheating cuz I have more gear and a 3-spd, but it gets hot at an idle which makes me think I'm not getting enough flow.

Okay guys, so I put the new waterpump in and that did not fix the problem. What I did notice was the thermostat did not open until almost 210 degrees at an idle. I'm told to take out the thermostat, but if that doesn't work, what may be the problem?

if it's efi then whomever told you that is a fool......180 stat is the best performance wise stat to run in an efi car cause with no stat two things may happen either it'll cool to well and not let vehicle enter in closed loop operation or the water will circulate to fast through radiator and not be cooled well enough..the t-stat serves as a gate.. you should not ever have to remove it to make the vehicle cool better as it was designed to operate with one properly from factory ...if it overheats at idle you need to make sure the clutch fan is operational/working

Well, I have an 18 " electric fan on the radiator and it works properly. The original clutch fan did nothing to cool the car. And I know many people that run their EFI mustang's w/o a thermostat.

My main issue is that I see no flow through the radiator until it hits over 200 degrees, I also don't understand how the car ran hotter once I put in a bigger and better aluminum radiator? If you can answer that question with a sensible reason then be my guest.

Sounds like an air bubble to me, or your coolants holes in the block are clogged up. I have a c4 in my car, and ran it with EFI about 3 months and it did get hotter than with the T5 but nothing outrageous. And that was with a Summit racing aluminum radiator and a stock clutch fan. Just did a carb swap and it doesnt go above 190 now....gotta love it

Well, I took the thermostat out and it cool the car down (like it should). So Yes, if you have a heating problem and tried everything in the book take out the thermo whether its efi or not.
