gear advice?

RE: gear advice?
I'll be the odd guy here...again. I have 3:27 gears and have converted my 5.0 from Auto to manual. I know they are not launch or racing gears by any stretch, but they were better than the 2:73s it originally had and I do a lot of highway travel...300 miles+. The key is (as stated earlier), what are you looking to use the car for? For me, the 3:27s provided a "bump up" yet very highway friendly.

I had 4.10's put in when my car had an AOD and now Ive got a t5 and the 4.10's are still good. Im actually getting another set put in this week (might already be in) because the guy that put the first set in screwed up and they howl.
The guy thats putting them in this time has a '91 5.0 with 4.30's and a stick.

RE: gear advice?
dont be a wimp, dont fear the gear.
all motor: 4.10's minimum, 4.30's being a very good choice, 4.56 is needed im some cases.
s/c: 3.73's, 3.90's or 4.10's. if you can hook up with 4.30's, get em.
turbo: 3.55, 3.27, 2.73.
if you want to save gas, keep your stock gears.

RE: gear advice?
Yes you can .The 86 and up mustang came with 8.8 .As far as gears i'd go with the 3.73 .I've triad the 3.55 and 4.10 and now 3.73.The 4.10 leaves you looking for another gear on the hwy and the 3.55 needs A little more on take off .I think the 3.73 is the closes to perfect compermise you can get .Be sure to put in all new bearings and seals or you could have problems with roaring .Late model restoration offers a complete ring and pinionkitfor the 3.73 with bearings for 259.95
