idle jumpy

Default idle jumpy

ok win i start up my car for the first time the idle jumps to like 500 to 1200 rpm non stop, thin win it worm's up the idle jump will go like 1k to 700 up and down! is that my tps or what? it has done this cens i got the car and i want to fix it! o and the car starts right up.

Sounds like it might be your iac (Idle Air Control) valve. Thats the thing on the side of your tb. I have the same problem with mine and it throws a iac code evertime I hook it up to the computer.

IAC's are expensive. Mine cost me $150 canadian. And yes you can run without it, as long as the engine is warmed up. If the motor is cold and you try to start it with the IAC disconnected, it won't stay running unless you hold your foot on the gas a bit.

IAC's are not expensive. My local parts dealer (autozone) has them for about $60.
