3.73 in a 92 auto? high speeds
is it bad...for yur tranny to go high speeds w/ 3.73's?
it just dont feel right in my car. 2,500 \rpm is usualy as high as i take it.might touch 3,000 if i get on it a lil bit. but even then, it just dont feel right. was wondering if anyone elses feels like that?
whats the fastest that someones gone with gears like that?

so u guys are saying i could floor it or have it floored on the freewayand nuthin will happen? cuz my next blog might be.......blown tranny!! lololol
or blown motor, blown and not in a kool way.
i thought the tranny would be workn pretty hard since the ratio in the rear is faster. or maybe sum one could break it down for me......

RE: 3.73 in a 92 auto? high speeds
since you have an AOD, which uses a lockup converter. This means that when cruising your crankshaft and inputshaft on ur trans are 1:1. However when you acelerate the converter is no longer locked up. This mean it is slightly slipping not much at all........... eitherway your transmission is only moving as fast as the crank is turning it no matter what gears you have. This isbecause your trans spins your drivshaft/pinion. and basically the amount of splines on your ring and pinon gears determine the final drive ratio.... Help at all???
