Default front rotor is loose

I replaced the front wheel bearing on my 91 gt and now the rotor wobbles a little after torquing down the wheel nut. Even when I tighten the wheel nut more than enough, the rotor still has some play in it. I didn't notice this with the old bearings but the reason i replaced them in the first place was because the side that is giving me trouble was squeaking. I tried two sets of brand new bearings and the same thing. I also noticed that the wheel nut is out farther on this side than the other side(which has no play). I pushed just the bearing back on the spindle shaft and it goes back all the way back so it doesn't seem to be getting caught on anything. Any ideas? worn out spindle shaft maybe?

yes, bearings are definitely in correctly. Even had a ford tech put in the new races, both times along with the seal.

It seems like the rotor is moving on the shaft, I can see the rotor moving independently of the dust guard/plate which is bolted on the knuckle. I don't see anything wrong with the rotor, the races are in there tight and were installed by a ford tech. I might just have to bring my car in and have it looked at. Do you think something could be wrong with the threads or wheel nut?

Just reading that, it sounds like you tightened it without using a manual or a torque wrench?

According to Haynes:
Hub adjusting nut
Step 1. 17-25 ft-lbs
Step 2. back off 1/2 turn
Step 3. 10-15 in-lbs

I'd recheck the bearings.

i wouldnt think the wheel nut or threads would have to do with it unless there striped or cross treasdedmbut the ford tech would have seen this, i would double check the bearings, make sure the corrrect bearing was installed cause, did you do a 5 luug conversion if so what model spindledid you go to
