Default Junkyard run

Ok so i went to local JY to grab a 5.0 motor for my new swap. found lots of motors, only problem is that everyone was covered in about three inches of sludge. i didn't grab any, mostly cause of that and the bodies on the cars were clean which leave two reasons while they're there. Bad Motor and Bad Trans.

heres my question: Would you Personsally have grabbed one in that condition? or is it better to buy one from local classifieds?

depends on which one you went to in Salt Lake area, I used to get most of mine on 3300 can't remember south east or west street, when I lived there, it was called westen pick n pull, cost 2 dollars to get in, also a place called anderson's alittle past springville south of Provo had some good stuff when I was working on my 85 when I still lived there figure on rebuilding any one you get from the boneyard and have it checked for cracks once it gets to machine shop, if you can find an explorer 5.0 that'd be the way to go

dont forget a better cam.

but to the OP, the Explorer motor has better heads and intake, Gt40 heads, same as the cobra IIRC... a good deal better than the E7s that 87-93 stangs had

Im just kinda curious as to why ford put better stuff on a explorar instead of their muscle car at the time? Wouldn't they want there best stuff on the performance car at the time, not an explorar?
