I just picked up a 64 289 Complete for $140. I has a complete MSD 6A system including dizzy, coil and box. Can I use this dizzy in my car? I know it probably doesn't have a steel gear. Can I switch the gear from my dizzy to this one? It also came with a eddy rpm manifold and a eddy carb. Im going to try the carb on my car and see if it helps.

I had a freakin 850 on my car just to get it to run one day and it wouldnt even idle there was so much fuel dumping in there. Then i put a 650 on and it was fine, but i wasnt getting enough fuel, enough to daily drive, but the minute i would floor it...see ya!! down to 0. seriously look into your fuel pressure can cause big issues.

I'll check the fuel pressure but I doubt thats the problem as I am still using the EFi pumpwith a regulator. It feels like its a ignition issue. It runs under load like I got a plug wire off. Im going to put the 600 Eddy carb tomorrow and see if thats any better.

I dont have a cheap guage on mine. My buddy hung out the window while I went around the block so he could watch the guage and it didnt drop a bit.

I bought a 289 yesterday that came with a basically new Edelbrock carb. Don't know what CFM it is didnt bother looking up the part # yet.
I put this carb on and it made a world of difference. Still not quit right, but now if I floor it, it goes. There's still some hesitation from a slow takeoff. Still feels like I have a plug wire off. Maybe my plugs are toast from it running so rich with the other carb.

Maybe the 670 is a little much for my motor right now. I hate that I spent almost 400$ on that carb.

Just a update. I switched carbs and put new plugs in it this afternoon. The old girl pulls hard now. Feels good now. Almost like I added 50 HP.

I bet if you revved it up had it stumble, then spray starting fluid, it would of cleared up, indicating you need to richen your mixture on the adjustment tab, sounds like it was not dialed in.

Ill take a properly dialed in carb anyday, they simply produce more power than F/I.

Im going to try the 670 Holley again. I adjusted as per Holley's instructions. I adjusted for max vaccum at idle.

Seemed like the Holley was way too rich or just too big for my motor.

670 may be way too big, its possible, as I believe its used on strokers.
