how can you get rid of the EGR system?

how can you get rid of the EGR system?
ok i have an 89 gt vert auto and i have mac longtubes offroad hpipe.. check engine light pops up everynow and then, so i scanned it at my dad's tranny shop and it said the EGR system wasnt kicking on becasue it was running too rich becasue i have no cats. is ther anyway i can bypass that wire that goes to teh egr valve? please asnwer quickly! thanks
