Default Picked up a pair of used GT40 heads

Picked up a pair of ron GT40 heads for $50, one of the cylinders has alot of ash deposit from that looks of it. Any sugestions on what to check for on the heads that might cause that issue? pic below, Thanks

I say clean them up and go for it. Most likely the previous owner had a problem with timing or tuning. This should be a nice performance bump for you, the most noticeable especially with all the ignition mods you already have done.

definitly take them to a machine shop and let them hot tank, and pressure check the heads before you do ANYTHING with them

ash deposit like that = worn lower end or it was burning oil, have the guides checked on the heads and gone through

Thanks for the replies. worst case I was thinin they may have a crack in them that caused that, and didnt want to waste more money clenaing em up. Not planing to use them on my car. After I'm done buildinging my boss block and put it in my car I am gonna use these heads on my old 302 for another project way down the road....not sure what it is gonna be yet lol. Figured I'd pic them up now since they were cheap.
