Default head removal advice please?

ok, so aside from gaskets, are there any parts that i should replace automatically while i have the heads off?

also, should i be cleaning any of the old parts prior to re-installing them? if so, with what?

this is going to be fun imo

are you putting the same heads back on? I've heard its always good to get new head bolts as the ones that stretch shouldn't be reused.

don't see your mileage, but you shouldn't want to do it again very soon. i would think seriously about what will give you trouble before you are ready to pull the heads off again. like the man said, valve springs and maybe lifters if you have enough miles.

I would spend the 40 dollars on some ARP headbolts and possibly save yourself a big headache. Don't forget to use thread sealant on the lower head bolts and clean everything real well before reassembly and torque heads back on in 3 steps. Good luck it isn't really that hard to do.

It's good peace of mind to use new head gaskets too but ive heard they can be reused if the water jacket ports are okay.
